At Express ER in San Antonio, TX we are dedicated to providing the best medical care possible for our patients. We believe that a part of providing the best care possible includes being as transparent as we can about our billing process. Express ER in San Antonio is a freestanding emergency room that is licensed by Texas. Express ER is not a participant in any health insurance provider network, however, by Texas state law, any insurance provider is required to process a patient’s emergency visit at in-network benefit levels.
After you have been seen at Express ER in San Antonio, two claims will be submitted to your health insurance provider. The first insurance claim we submit will be for the emergency physician who provided your care at Express ER. The second insurance claim we submit will be for the facility and emergency care you received, including laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging, cultures and more!
Once we have submitted the claims to your insurance company, you should receive an explanation of benefits which explains any charges from Express ER. Depending upon your insurance provider, the explanation of benefit may itemize your payment responsibility, copay, deductible and more.
At Express ER we do not bill above what your insurance provider’s in-network allowable is (known as balance billing). Once your explanation of benefits has been processed, any outstanding balance will be issued to you in an invoice. Got questions about your invoice? Feel free to give us a call. We’d be happy to answer any questions you may have.
